Swing Bed Networking Group
Healthworks is now holding quarterly virtual Swing Bed Networking Groups where we will discuss strategies for successful swing bed programs.
The virtual sessions have been scheduled for Oct. 14, 2026 and in 2027 on Jan. 13, April 14 and July 14. All sessions will run from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. CST. Active participation in the virtual discussions is expected of all participants, as these will not be presentation-focused webinars. The meetings will also not be recorded. We request cameraw be turned on and audio available to enable the best conversations. Healthworks staff will help facilitate discussion.
We ask for only one zoom registration per organization as we have a max of 100 zoom connections. You are encouraged to assemble a group at your facility to utilize that one connection.
You only register once to participate in all sessions. Connection information will be sent to you directly from zoom after you register. There is no registration fee.
If you are interested in actively collaborating with your peers, here is the link to register: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/XswZlni1Qm2U9r__e9B46g

Access to Healthy Food
In 2025, 18 Kansas hospitals and health systems participated in a listenting session conducted in partnership with the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Health Institute to explore how hospitals are working to improve access to healthy foods for the patients and communities they serve. Hospitals also shared opportunities, challenges and strategies, as well as resources and policy changes that could help support and strengthen their work addressing access to healthy foods. Read the issue brief below to learn more about the work happening across rural Kansas.

Transportation Issues in Rural Kansas
In 2020, the Kansas Office of Primary Care and Rural Health at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Healthworks launched a project to learn more about community perspectives about the impact of transportation issues on the health of Kansans. Key partners included the Kansas Hospital Association, Wichita State University Community Engagement Institute and the Kansas Health Institute.
Population Health
Kansas hospitals are an integral part of the health care system, essential to vibrant communities across our state. While hospitals provide care 24 hours per day, every day of the year, they also are increasingly focused on improving the health of their communities beyond the hospitals’ walls.
